definitions and pictures

- contrast is the state of being strikingly different from something else, typically something in juxtaposition or close association.





- Emphasis is stress laid on a word or words to indicate special meaning or particular importance.




Balance is an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.


Proportion is a part, share, or number considered in comparative relation to a whole.



Perspective is the art of drawing solid objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other when viewed from a particular point.

  1. Proportion in terms of graphic design and art is not necessarily the same as when the term is used in mathematics...at the very least, it is usually shown with visual graphic representations, such as two object and their relational sizes.
